After 2 pleasant weeks away from the military, time to roll out. The family accompanied me to the airport and saw me off on Saturday the 25th. Flight was very smooth and early, unusual for US Air (maybe it was having women as pilot and copilot). Able to chat via Skype with Linda, then caught the bus back to Fort Riley. Loaded up my 250# of "stuff" and we roll out on Monday. We'll fly from the US to Kyrgyzstan (about 20 hours), thence to Bagram in Afghanistan. There the 200 of us who trained together will disperse with my team of 18 heading to Herat in the west. I was informed in early April about this all-expenses-paid "vacation", and now we'll finally get there.
