I have been "in country" for 13 weeks as of tomorrow. No rain that entire time. Indeed, sometimes several days without a cloud in the sky. We've had a few broken overcasts over the last few weeks, but today looked dark. Finally, just after sunset we got a light rain. Not enough to grow crops but at least the dust will settle.
The picture shows the moonset over the mountains with clouds a few days ago.

It's like that here during the summer, too. So hot, so dry, so dusty! Water supply is short as well. Where do you get water? Is rationed?
We have wells that pump into 50,000 gal bladders. Then other pumps raise it to water towers to provide pressure. The water is only used for washing (us as well as dishes). We drink bottled water. We take "Navy showers": wet down, turn off shower, soap up, turn on water to rinse. So, we shower with about 2 minutes of water use. The bottled water is stashed everywhere so we all drink as much as we want. We use the bottled water to make coffee, tea, etc. I believe the well water doesn't have germs in it but may have a very low level of radioactivity. Also, lots of milk, sodas (pop to we midwesterners) and juice boxes are plentiful. Since we are in a Muslim country, no alcohol.
