August 2 Short Range Marksmanship/Close Quarters Battle

Late post due to Army blocking of blogs. I finally found a way.

The SRM involved engaging targets only 10 meters away. We were taught how to be ready and rapidly engage bad guys in front, to the side and behind us without “flagging” (pointing your weapon at) your comrades. 2 targets would pop up and we had to shoot the one with the RPG, not the woman with the baby. We also learned to quickly switch to the pistol when the rifle went dry: out of ammo.

We then went to a simulated building and learned how to pop into a window, shoot quickly and recover. We also did this right and left handed.

Today we learned CBQ, close quarters combat aka room clearing. First we practice and then used blanks to enter a building and clear it room-by-room, just like on the evening news.

I finished the last Harry Potter today. The good guys win!
