Shots and equipment

I thought I got everything I would ever need last year at Officer Indoctrination School: new tetanus, repeat on measles, a hepatitis B I didn't need, Hep A and yellow fever. Loe and behold, more shots! Mainly anthrax vaccine which I'm sure Steve Murphy got before his little beach vacation in Iraq last year. The shot is okay, then about 30 seconds later it really starts to sting. Three weeks after the first one (I get six!), I still have a lump on my shoulder.

Some necessary items recommended by others who went before: MP3 player, laptop, Leatherman, baby wipes, vast quantities of good quality underwear (laundering is free but rough in A-land). One of our staffers who is already there recommended laying in more Desert Combat Uniforms, so I went to the warehouse and had a free shopping spree. Free! I will end up with about 8 sets.

I got the team roster and 4 of the 18 team members will be docs, including 2 radiologists and 1 ER doc. I will be the only one who knows about office practice. We also got more info about our 2 months in Kansas: 2 weeks of training crammed into 60 days. Yee haw, oops, Ooh-rah!
