We had our last shoot, just a quick refresher on our small arms. Of course, we wore FBR/IBA (full battle rattle/individual body armor). I wasn't too concerned; we were to be at the range for only about 3 hours. By the end, I was really dragging and just passed it off to a recent virus. Well, the bulb temp hit 100 here today with a heat index of 115. That is way beyond "black flag" in which they would cancel activities at the naval air station. Army's recommendation: "Keep hydrated".
We cleaned and turned in the weapons for the last time before deployment and I'm giving the body armor a good scrub. Fabreze and Lysol help but there's a lot of body grime on these.
Just a few more days and we're done.
